TRANSCRIPT (7 minutes): This is Clean TV Family-friendly news. I’m Jerry McGlothlin reporting what’s happening on Saturday, June 12, 2010.

From the CleanTV Chicago bureau, this just in: Remember the controversy regarding Barack Obama’s old U.S. Senate seat? After reports of some prominent politicians playing, “Let’s make a deal,” with that plumb position, Roland Burris was eventually appointed to fill that position. But now some Illinois Republicans are suggesting (graphic) Congressman Mark Kirk should bow out of his bid to win that Senate seat. After winning the Republican primary held last February, revelations began to emerge regarding Kirk exaggerating his military service in the U.S. Naval Reserve. (end graphic) Now Kirk is receiving considerable criticism from high-ranking members in the Illinois GOP. Also, recent questions concerning Kirk's relationship with disgraced friend and colleague U.S. Rep. Mark Foley, who was forced out of Congress for his homosexual relationships with under-aged pages, have fueled concerns that Kirk was not properly vetted by Illinois Republican Party Chairman Pat Brady and the GOP hierarchy.

The FBI and the U.S. Justice Department are coming under increasing criticism regarding the recent brutal murder of Stephany Flores in Peru. (graphic) Joran Van Der Sloot, a Dutch national, was recently arrested and charged with the murder of Flores, a 21 year old student. While in custody, Van Der Sloot confessed to Peruvian authorities he had murdered Flores in his Lima, Peru hotel room after an argument. (end graphic) Flores suffered massive injuries which led to her death exactly five years to the day since Van Der Sloot was suspected in the disappearance of U.S. citizen Natalee Holloway, age 18. Holloway, of Alabama, disappeared on May 30th of 2005 during a graduation trip while vacationing in Aruba and her body has never been found. Van Der Sloot has denied any participation connected in the disappearance of Holloway. However, a Dutch crime reporter, Peter R. de Vries, secretly videotaped a conversation he had with Van Der Sloot where he admitted he was with Holloway at the time of her death. Reports indicate the FBI is in possession of highly incriminating evidence that Van Der Sloot tried to extort $250,000 from the Holloway family in exchange for information leading to the location of Natalie Holloway's remains. In May of this year, Van Der Sloot, 22, was targeted in a sting conducted by the FBI. It has been revealed the FBI paid Van Der Sloot a $25,000 down payment and are in possession of videotape of Van Der Sloot's attempt to shake down the Holloway family. Serious questions have arisen regarding whether Ms. Flores would still be alive today if the FBI had arrested Van Der Sloot earlier in May. Van Der Sloot used the $25,000 to travel from Aruba to Peru where he met Flores, took her back to his hotel room and then murdered her. Eric Holder, the U.S. Attorney General, has not commented on why charges were not brought against Van Der Sloot, involving his attempt to extort money from the grief stricken Holloway family. Some assert if the FBI had acted earlier in May that Flores would still be alive today. FBI Director Robert Mueller has not commented on why charges of extortion were not brought against Van Der Sloot.

Can’t make your mortgage payment on your current home? Here’s a creative new solution: Buy a second home before you (graphic) default on your currently mortgage. Of course we don’t really recommend doing this but there are reports of thousands of Americans who are finding themselves in financial difficulty meeting their mortgage payments who have come up with a unique solution to their problem. (end graphic) Homeowners--who are not in default or in foreclosure--are purchasing second homes and literally walking away from their current mortgages. A licensed real estate appraiser who preferred anonymity told Clean TV, "People are purchasing homes that are more affordable and walking away from mortgage notes they have trouble meeting due to the fact they owe more to their lending institutions than their homes are worth. Unbelievably, there is no law prohibiting such practices, but lenders are catching on." A homeowner will purchase a less expensive dwelling, telling their perspective lenders their current home is in the process of being sold. After a mortgage is secured on a more affordable home, literally thousands of Americans are then reneging on their contracts from the homes they claimed to have sold. Banks and lending institutions are aware of what some are describing as, at the very least, skirting the law. Lawmakers are considering legislation regarding rules and regulations prohibiting such practices.

We hear a lot in the news these days about bull markets and bear markets. Well, our final story is about a bear, who went to market. That's right. A 400-pound black bear reportedly made its way to the roof of Viewmont shopping mall in Scranton, Pennsylvania, searching for more food after rummaging through a nearby dumpster. The Pennsylvania Game Commission was called in and officer tranquilized the hungry bear, and lowered it from the roof to the ground with a forklift. The bear is expected to be released to Pennsylvania state game lands shortly.
