This is CleanTV News. I’m Jerry McGlothlin reporting what’s happening on Wednesday, June 23, 2010.

Story #1: Oklahomans will soon have a chance to vote on a proposal that would prevent Islam’s Sharia’ Law or international judicial rulings to impact local court decisions. The amendment, which will be on the November 2, 2010 ballot, is stirring up controversy across the country. The proposed amendment, referred to as SQ755, states that courts “shall not consider international law or Sharia Law.” Sharia, otherwise known as Muslim law, has found traction in some pockets of the United States. Great Britain has seen a significant rise in the usage of Sharia to settle conflicts among Muslims, with the government’s approval. Oklahoma State Senator, Rex Duncan, who also had support from state Sen. Anthony Sykes, told AFN the amendment is intended to be proactive and is confident it will pass by a large margin. Duncan also said he has received emails of encouragement from across the nation and believes some states may follow suite, but it is critical to act swiftly. Sharia’ is the body of Islamic law in Muslim countries. Some of these nations govern by its tenants giving punishments for crimes such as (graphic of woman stoned) adultery, theft, blasphemy, or conversion away from Islam which might result in receiving amputations, lashes or as in this picture, death by stoning. Story #2: A judge has just blocked Barack Obama's unilateral 6-month moratorium on offshore oil drilling. Now maybe we can be less dependent on oil drilled from militant Muslim nations, and it is not too soon. Why? Because Muslim militants have turned up the rhetoric again, promising to stage even deadlier attacks on America than the 9-11 nightmare that took over three thousand US lives. (graphic of Azzam al-Amriki) Turncoat American Adam Gadahn, now the international spokesman for the Islamic terrorist group, made those threats in a rambling 24-minute, recorded message that taunted the Obama administration, and demanded the end of US support for Israel and withdrawal of all US troops from Afghanistan as pre-conditions for peace with Al Qaida. Gadahn has a one million dollar FBI bounty on his head, payable upon his arrest or conviction. In the Arab world he is known as Azzam al-Amriki or “the American.” (end graphic)

Story #3: Leaders of America’s first official political party using the TEA Party name promise to seek criminal charges against members of the Florida Republican Party for what they say have been acts of intimidation, threats, and firings. (graphic of Ms. Dunmire) TEA Party Congressional candidate Peg Dunmire told Clean TV she is aware of at least four cases where pressure was brought by GOP operatives hoping to persuade the TEA Party members to quit their political races. Threats of criminal investigations against TEA Party candidates and their families, loss of business, and even the firing of a radio talk show host who had declared his TEA Party candidacy were all claimed. (end graphic) Dunmire said, “Today, the Florida TEA Party is under assault. TEA Party members are being threatened. Today, Orlando is wielding thug politics. Our freedom of speech; freedom to assemble; and freedom to petition our government is under assault. We shall not be deterred. We have only just begun the fight.” Dunmire is seeking to unseat Democrat incumbent Representative Alan Grayson in Florida’s 8th Congressional District, serving parts of four central Florida counties.

Story #4: The McChrystal Flap, a CleanTV “Just a Thought” commentary by CleanTV political and military analyst Jim Kinney. How should the President respond to the comments made by (graphic of Gen. McChrystal) General McChrystal about his civilian leaders in a long interview with Rolling Stone magazine. This may surprise you...President Obama should fire him. Gen McChrystal is the leader of our efforts in Afghanistan and in that position has the unique responsibility to ensure our policies in that war do not increase the risks our young men and women face. This includes fighting to overcome the politically correct Rules of Engagement established by all the president's men but that hamper our military and put them at grave risk (as recent casualty reports from Afghanistan confirm). Our constitution requires that uniformed military take orders from their civilian chain of command...therefore, as a result of his comments, Gen McChrystal should be relieved of his command. (end graphic) This is similar to the Truman/McArthur showdown during the Korean War. Truman was right to fire McArthur...and McArthur was right that the Truman policies were killing soldiers and lengthening the war. That said, what should the General do? He should not apologize. He must not take one step backwards. He must stand up and oppose the wicked and dangerous policies of this administration that are needlessly endangering our troops on the ground. In other words, Gen McChrystal must play the courageous role of martyr...he has displayed physical courage to lay down his life for the nation...now he must demonstrate the moral courage to sacrifice his career for the good of the nation. The nation needs to know how poorly the civilian leadership charged with defending our country is performing. I am sure that the General's opinions are shared by the vast majority of our military...he must, at the cost of his career give them a public voice.

Story #5: Imagine getting away from it all in a place with free movie nights and bingo, arts and crafts, dance and cooking classes, tutoring and computer training. Yes, you get free e-mail service and Internet-based phone service, too. You’ll enjoy aerobic exercises in a natural setting. (graphic of veggie trays) Enjoy free veggie trays--Veggie Monster, eat your heart out--in a green environment with hanging plants, and complimentary continental breakfasts every weekend. No, this is not an ad for some posh, all-inclusive resort. It is a list of just some of Obama’s proposed changes to inmate detention facilities operated by the Immigration and Customs Enforcement Division…or ICE. He also would allow “free movement” of low-risk detainees, expanded visiting hours, and the use of unmonitored phone lines. And guess who’s picking up the tab for all of these penal perks? (end graphic) You got it…you and me. American taxpayers.
